Once again, our students have gone beyond our expectations. In the Whooo’s Reading readathon, held during the month of April, our reading goal was nearly doubled, with students logging 38,142 minutes, and our fundraising goal came in over 50% higher than projected. Wow! Great job students!
We are very grateful to families at home, who supported this program by helping their children navigate the program and helping them invite sponsors.
The children were very enthusiastic about the ability to log their time online, comment on their books, chat about their reading with their friends and relatives, and earn virtual coins to ‘dress’ their ‘Owlvatar’. The readathon wall outside the library is decorated with a range of cheerful, colourful owls that each student who read thirty minutes or more was invited to create.
Students were very enthusiastic about this activity, so we look forward to running this program again next year.
