On May 30, the school celebrated the annual Grizzly Day for MS, organized by Grizzly Cubs. Objectives included raising awareness about Multiple Sclerosis, helping a local family living with MS, and inspiring students to want to help others.
Students enjoyed a barbeque lunch cooked by volunteers from the Swan Hills Fire Department, Clint Baker & Shanaya Hunt, and served by parent volunteers, Sarah Carter, Kerra VonSaldern, and Candace Hickie.
After lunch, ‘Safire’ secretly motivated the students to be better humans while entertaining them with her acrobatic skills. Surprise hula-hoop performances by teachers, Cassie Davies & Jeff Tomiak, were especially impressive.
Video presentations at the end of the show showed the students what MS is and how it can affect individuals and families. You can check them out yourself on YouTube:
Sales from lunch, along with private donations, raised $501, which was donated to a family to help them with the challenges they’re facing due to MS. Thank you all for your support.
