Character Trait of the Month: Responsibility

ADMINISTRATOR’S MESSAGE

We’re at the time of the school year of field trips and track & field. Many students will be participating in science-related activities, with some visiting the Telus World of Science and others learning through in-school field trips, compliments of Teachers’ Pet. As for track events, students will better prepare themselves once the last bit of snow has melted, the ground dried, and the wind turned a little less cool. Recently, students were greatly engaged when Neville Wright, 3 time Olympian and World Cup competitor, visited Swan Hills School during Wellness Day. Students learned of the hard work and dedication required to progress through school sports to compete at university level, and then, ultimately, at the National and International level for Team Canada.

Division 2 is greatly looking forward to wowing their community during this year’s dinner theatre. Students who have worked their way through serving guests and studying lines in past years have their opportunity to shine, while younger students begin their journey through the dramatic process and look forward to their time on stage.

Teachers and students are also beginning their preparation for Provincial Achievement exams. Grade 6 and 9 Language Arts Part A are written in early May, with the balance of PATs and Diploma exams scheduled for later in June. In addition to work in classrooms, students and parents will be provided with tips and information on how to prepare for exams. We have many engaged students so we expect good results from their efforts.

The next School Council meeting is scheduled for May 15, and Council will be electing next year’s Chairperson and executives. Join us for the evening and seek a position if interested.

Have a great month.
